Why Frisco Lawns Need Grub Control
White grubs are the larval stage of June beetles (also called June bugs). These C-shaped larvae live in the soil and feed on grass roots from late spring through summer. By the time you see brown patches, grubs have already caused significant damage.
Grubs are especially problematic in Frisco neighborhoods like Stonebriar and Newman Village where mature St. Augustine and Bermuda lawns provide ideal feeding grounds. June beetles lay eggs in your lawn during May and June, and those eggs hatch into grubs that immediately start feeding on roots.
The best approach is preventative treatment in late spring before grubs hatch. This protects your lawn investment and avoids the cost of repairing grub damage later.

How Grub Control Works
Our grub control treatment targets grubs during their most vulnerable stage. We apply a specialized insecticide that works through the soil to eliminate grubs before they can damage your grass roots.
Timing is everything. Preventative grub control works best when applied in May through July, before grubs grow large enough to cause visible damage. Curative treatments can be applied later if damage is already present, but prevention is always more effective.
The treatment process:
- Free lawn inspection - Brian will examine your lawn for signs of grub activity and assess whether treatment is needed
- Targeted application - Treatment is applied evenly across affected areas using professional equipment
- Soil activation - Light watering after treatment helps the product reach the root zone where grubs feed
- Follow-up monitoring - We'll check your lawn on the next scheduled visit to confirm grubs are eliminated
Signs You Have Grubs
Early detection makes treatment easier. Watch for these warning signs:
- Brown patches that appear in late June through August despite adequate watering
- Spongy turf that feels soft when you walk on it
- Grass pulls up easily like carpet, with no root attachment
- Increased bird or raccoon activity digging in your lawn (they're hunting for grubs)
- Irregular dead spots that don't follow irrigation patterns
Not sure if your brown patches are grubs, fungus, or drought stress? I'll check for free when I'm in your area. As a Frisco local who treats lawns throughout Stonebriar and Newman Village every week, I can quickly identify grub damage.

Protect Your Lawn Before Damage Occurs
Most homeowners don't think about grubs until they see brown patches. By then, you're looking at expensive repairs: new sod, soil amendments, and intensive watering to re-establish your lawn.
Preventative grub control costs less than repairing grub damage. A single application during peak egg-laying season (May-July) prevents the entire problem.
Here's what makes our approach different:
-Local expertise - I'm a North Texas native and I understand our seasonal grub cycles
-Preventative focus - I recommend treatment before damage occurs, not after
-Honest assessment - If you don't need grub control, I'll tell you
-Direct communication - You work with me (Brian), not a call center
When you call North Texas Lawn Solutions, you're not getting a salesperson. You're getting a lawn care specialist who lives in Little Elm, treats lawns in your neighborhood every week, and knows exactly what Frisco lawns need.

What to Expect After Treatment
First 24-48 hours
Water your lawn lightly (about 1/4 inch) to activate the treatment and move the product into the soil where grubs live. Avoid heavy watering that might wash the product away.
Within 1-2 weeks
Grubs stop feeding and die. You won't see them on the surface, but you should notice that brown patches stop spreading.
Long-term protection
A single grub control application protects your lawn for the entire grub feeding season (typically through August).

Common Grub Control Questions
The best time for preventative grub control is May through July in Frisco. This targets grubs when they're newly hatched and most vulnerable. If you're treating existing damage (curative approach), grub control can be applied through early September, but preventative treatment is always more effective. I recommend treating in late May or early June before you see any damage.
The easiest way to check is to pull up a section of damaged turf. If you see white, C-shaped larvae (about 1/2 to 1 inch long) in the soil or attached to grass roots, you have grubs. Other signs include brown patches that appear despite watering, spongy turf, grass that pulls up like carpet, and increased bird or raccoon activity digging in your lawn. If you're not sure, call me for a free inspection. I can quickly tell you if grubs are the problem or if it's something else like fungus or drought stress.
Grub damage cannot be reversed, but your lawn can recover if the roots aren't completely destroyed. Once grubs are eliminated, healthy grass will gradually fill in the damaged areas. This process can take several weeks to months depending on the extent of damage and time of year. Severe grub damage may require overseeding or sodding to restore your lawn. This is why preventative treatment is so valuable - it protects your lawn before damage occurs and avoids the cost and hassle of repairing brown patches later.
