Frequently Asked Questions
About Lawn Care
No, we specialize in fertilization, weed control, and pest control only. We do not offer lawn mowing or aeration services.
This is the number one question Brian gets, so let's be crystal clear: North Texas Lawn Solutions focuses exclusively on making your grass healthy, thick, and weed-free. We're fertilization and weed control specialists. If you need mowing, you'll want to hire a separate lawn maintenance company.
Give us a full year for the best results. There is no quick fix in lawn care.
Lawn improvement takes time, consistency, and treatments applied at the right times throughout the year. Some customers see noticeable improvements after the first few treatments, but real transformation happens over a full growing season.
If your lawn is in rough shape (lots of weeds, thin grass, stressed from neglect), it can take up to a year of our 7-treatment program to get where you want it. Brian sets realistic expectations upfront because he'd rather have happy customers who stick around than disappointed ones who expected miracles in 30 days.
Yes, all our products are EPA-approved and safe for pets and kids once dry. As a TDA licensed applicator, Brian follows all safety guidelines and uses products correctly.
Here's what you need to know:
- Products are safe once the treated area is dry
- Keep pets and children off the lawn until dry
- Brian uses the same products on his own lawn
- Professional-grade products applied correctly are safer than store-bought products applied incorrectly
If you have specific concerns about a pet with health issues or a child with sensitivities, mention it when you call. Brian can discuss product options and timing.
Pricing is based on your lawn's square footage.
Most lawns in Little Elm and Frisco fall into a standard price range, but larger properties cost more due to increased product usage. Brian can provide an accurate quote over the phone by measuring your lawn on Google Maps satellite view.
Payment options:
- Pay-as-you-go per treatment (no contract, cancel anytime)
- Prepay for the year: Prepay for the year and save 50% off your first treatment (no refunds if you cancel mid-year)
What's not included:
Fire ant control, grub control, fungicide treatments, and tree/shrub fertilization are add-on services charged separately.
Yes, there are no contracts. You can cancel anytime without penalty.
Brian doesn't believe in locking customers into contracts. He'd rather earn your business through quality service. If you're not happy, you can stop service after any treatment.
Most customers stick around because the service is good, not because they're contractually obligated. In Brian's words: "Rarely do I lose a customer for poor service once they sign up and start with me."
Brian is a TDA licensed applicator who personally handles every service. Unlike TruGreen, you won't get rotating unlicensed technicians following a script.
Here's the difference:
-Licensing: Brian holds TDA License #0823737 and is on-site for every treatment. TruGreen uses unlicensed techs supervised by licensed managers who aren't on-site.
-Weather-aware scheduling: Brian will postpone or skip a treatment if weather or lawn conditions aren't right. TruGreen techs often apply products regardless of conditions.
-Personal service: You get the same knowledgeable professional every time. With TruGreen, you get whoever is assigned that day.
-Education focus: Brian educates customers and sets realistic expectations. TruGreen call centers are sales-focused.
-Local accountability: Brian lives in Little Elm. He's your neighbor, not an anonymous service provider.
Brian's philosophy: "I want it to work the first time so I don't have to keep coming out here. If what I planned to do that day would make it worse, I'm not going to do it just to make money."
Our fire ant control comes with a 1-year guarantee. If fire ants return within one year of treatment, Brian will come back and spot treat those mounds at no additional charge.
This is one of our most popular services because Brian stands behind it personally. Fire ants are tough to eliminate, so we use a treatment approach that targets both the mounds you see and the colonies you don't.
If fire ants reappear, just call or text (214) 995-9369 and Brian will come back and spot treat them for free.
We offer six core lawn care services:
1.Lawn fertilization (7-treatment annual program)
2. Weed control (pre-emergent and post-emergent)
3. Fire ant control (with 1-year guarantee)
4. Grub control (preventative and curative)
5. Fungicide treatment (brown patch, large patch, etc.)
6. Tree and shrub fertilization (seasonal treatments)
What we don't offer:
- Lawn mowing or grass cutting
- Aeration
- Landscape installation or design
- Tree trimming or removal
- Irrigation repair
We're specialists in fertilization, weed control, and pest control. That's what we do best, so that's what we focus on.
Most customers are on our 7-treatment annual program with visits spaced throughout the year:
- 3 treatments in late winter/early spring (February to March)
- 4 treatments in growing season (April to September)
The exact schedule depends on weather, grass growth, and weed pressure. Brian doesn't operate on a rigid calendar. If conditions aren't right for a scheduled treatment, he'll postpone until it makes sense.
Add-on services like fire ant control, grub control, and fungicide treatments happen as needed, not on a fixed schedule.
Watering instructions depend on the type of treatment applied.
After fertilization: Water within 24-48 hours to activate the fertilizer and move nutrients into the soil. A good soaking is better than light, frequent watering.
After pre-emergent weed control: Water within 24 hours to move the pre-emergent into the soil where weed seeds germinate.
After post-emergent weed control (spray): Don't water for 24 hours to let the product absorb into weed leaves.
Brian includes watering instructions on the door note after each service, so you'll always know what to do.
Yes, on everything except weed control. Brian offers one-time treatments for fertilization, fire ant control, grub control, fungicide treatment, tree and shrub fertilization, and insect control. Weed control requires multiple treatments, so it's only available as part of the 7-treatment program.
Lawn care is cumulative. One treatment might give you a temporary improvement, but lasting results come from consistent treatments throughout the year. Think of it like going to the gym once versus following a year-long fitness plan.
That said, Brian understands budgets and timing don't always line up. If you want a one-time treatment (like fire ant control or a spring fertilization), just let him know when you call. He'll work with you.
You can skip treatments without penalty (no contracts), but your lawn won't get the full benefit of the program.
Skipping a treatment means:
- Weeds may break through without pre-emergent protection
- Grass growth slows without fertilizer
- Pest problems may develop without consistent management
If budget is tight, talk to Brian. He can help you prioritize which treatments matter most for your lawn's current condition.
Call or text Brian at (214) 995-9369. You'll reach the same person who treats your lawn.
No call centers. No automated systems. Just Brian's direct line.
Most customers prefer texting for quick questions or to report issues like fire ants popping up. Brian responds during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM) and tries to get back to people as quickly as possible.
No, we use synthetic (conventional) products. Organic lawn care isn't something we specialize in.
Brian uses EPA-approved synthetic fertilizers and pest control products because they're more effective and reliable for North Texas conditions. These products are safe when applied correctly by a licensed professional.
If organic is a requirement for you, there are companies that specialize in organic programs, but that's not our focus.
Brian uses Google Maps satellite view to measure your lawn's square footage and provides a quote over the phone, text, or email.
This means:
- No waiting for an in-person visit to get pricing
- Fast quotes (often within a few hours)
- Accurate measurements based on satellite imagery
If your lawn isn't visible on Google Maps (brand new neighborhood) or if you prefer to meet Brian in person, free lawn assessments are available. Most customers appreciate the convenience of getting a quote without scheduling a visit.
